Best blog title ever. The next #worlddoulaweek post is about my favorite doula tool. You guessed it, my hands. Seriously nothing in my doula bag is as useful as my hands. Maybe they're not magic, but I have had clients call counter pressure 'magic'. So I, of course, assume they mean me.
With my hands, I can comfort a birthing mother. I can hold her hands, brush the hair from her face, wipe tears from her cheek. I can rub her head, shoulders, back, or legs. I can apply pressure to a mother's lower back, squeeze her hips or press her knees to help with labor pressure. Some births, I don't even pull my other tools from my bag. All I need are my hands!
